Biography:
Tequan Richmond a.k.a. T-Rich (born October 30, 1992) is an American teen actor and performer best known for his role as Drew in the CW sitcom Everybody Hates Chris. Richmond also had a small role as Ray Charles, Jr. (9-10 yrs. old), the son of the legendary Ray Charles (played by Jamie Foxx) in the movie, Ray.
Tequan Richmond is the son of Temple Poteat and Anthony Richmond, who were never married. His mother is an aspiring actress and his father is currently serving in the United States Navy. He was born in Burlington, NC in 1992 and is an only child. Richmond moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2001 with no intentions of entering the entertainment business.
Richmond has appeared in magazine ads such as Sports Illustrated, Reader's Digest, Newsweek, and National Geographic as well as a national Nestle print ad. He also was one of six hosts for kids' TV shows on Toon Disney and has had guest-starring roles on CBS's Cold Case, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Numb3rs as well as Lifetime's Strong Medicine and FX's The Shield. He has co-starred on NBC's ER, Showtime's Weeds, and FOX's MadTV.
In March 2003, Richmond landed his first pilot, The Henry Lee Project, an Aaron Spelling Production. Tequan would have starred playing Andrew Lee (grandson to Henry Lee played by Danny Glover) however, CBS did not pick up the show.
He can be seen in several national commercials such as Tide, two McDonald's commercials, Verizon Wireless, Sears, Brand Jordan, Nintendo DS, Pepsi and Spalding basketball with Boston Celtics' Paul Pierce.
He appeared as a younger version of the rapper, Game, in the Hate It or Love It music video with Game and 50 Cent. Tequan was interviewed and featured in the behind the scenes footage for BET's Access Granted for the making of the video.
Richmond starred in the CW comedy Everybody Hates Chris as Drew for four seasons alongside Tichina Arnold, Terry Crews, Tyler James Williams, Imani Hakim, and Vincent Martella. The show started out on the UPN Network in 2005 but by the second season ended up on the CW Network. The show ended in 2009. The show is syndicated and airing daily, several times a day, on Nick at Nite for the Nickelodeon Network and occasionally on BET.
Tequan has been producing music since the age of 13 and he is currently pursuing a rap career as an unsigned artist under the name "T-Rich." He will perform on the Youngest-n-Charge Tour 2010 which starts June 23, 2010 in San Antonio, TX. The three-month US tour will include Soulja Boy, R&B artist Sammie, Hurricane Chris, T-Rich and a host of others.
