Biography:
Zakiya Dara Randall(born May 12, 1991) mononymously known as 'Z', derived from her first name Zakiya (pronounced zah-kee-yah) is an American golfer, public speaker, model and music producer. Born in Arlington, Virginia she was raised at an early age in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area and later as a child moved to Atlanta, Georgia.
She was awarded and crowned champion and 'Player of the Year' honors in her 1st year of playing golf in 2002. Randall was winning from the moment she began playing golf. She has been named a Golf Phenom and Golf Sensation.
Credited with pioneering and creating more young ladies interested in golf, she openly gives back and is thought to have popularized golf and people into the mainstream. She is generally admired for overcoming adversity, her philanthropic efforts of giving back and speaking engagements to become a benefactor to others.
In 2006, she became the only Atlantan to win a Medal and 1st Place in U.S. Women's Open Local Open Qualifier. Randall began receiving national and international attention only 4 short years after playing golf at age 14.
Randall at age 17, became the first female in Georgia to win at the Championship level against an all amateur men field of players on the Golf Channel Tour.
Randall was born in Arlington, Virginia, the daughter of Donnie Randall an engineer and Tanya Randall an IT Consultant.
Randall's father is African-American and her mother a natural redhead. She is of African, Native American, and Irish descent. She is an only child.
By the age of two, Randall could read literacy books to entire audiences. She was awarded "Valedictorian" of her class at the age of five. Randall's interest in sports and music started at an early age. She has been trained in classical piano.
By the age of 9, Randall won the ALTA(Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association) championship event.
Her interest in golf began unexpectedly after joining a family friend on the golf course. In her first year of playing golf she won every tournament she entered and won the AJGA (Atlanta Junor Golf Association) Championship going on to receive "Player of the Year" honors.
At age 14, Randall started gaining national and international attention for winning 35 of 36 junior golf tournaments.
Randall has been a humanitarian on social awareness from an early age, she continually gives back to community oriented organizations. Randall has conducted several seminars, golf clinics and speaking engagements to lend her support for inspiring people around the nation.
